Our Wednesday in Paris started with another of those fantastic hotel buffet breakfasts - and in France they are especially fantastic with all the pastries and bagettes
We then headed off to drop our bags at Gare du Nord for the day while we went exploring. They have various sizes of self-service lockers at the station, and you can just put in some coins and leave stuff there for the day. Some of the lockers were big enough to hold Lauren....but we decided she could come with us to see the sights :-)
Here are the highlights from our day
 |
Lovely Lauren on the RER train from the hotel to Gard de Nord |
 |
Oh man - this guy has lost his head..... |
 |
The Notre-Dame.
Did not see Quasimodo anywhere! |
 |
Beautiful last view Notre-Dame before we headed off on our Red Hop-On, Hop-Off Bus Tour |
 |
The Luxor Obelisk in the Place de Concorde |
 |
Fantastic old building at the end of the Place de Concorde |
 |
Name that landmark!! |
A collage of photos from the Louvre . Can you spot the pyramid through the arch behind Lauren?
 |
The wishing bridge - it glistens like gold filigree but it is really just covered in padlocks! |
Lunch at a Paris cafe.
Not sure what the rascal though she was doing!
And then off to the Laduree shop for spectacular Macaroons!
Delicious Sorbet with a Macaroon on top for Lauren
And Oh My Goodness! Look what Sharon ate!!!!!

Sandra: Mmmm, that looks suspiciously like Sharon ate one of the Parisian landmarks?? An impressive structure, that 2 storey cake/building. Still have not seen much chocolate posted about, though. Am hoping that's because its all coming back for us in luggage :) Jayna is currently making multi-layer creations out of plasticine... not quite so edible as Sharon's giant cake, but pretty nonetheless!
ReplyDeleteSandra: We must admit the Parisian food looks divine. But so is Kylas' ginger crunch which she taught me how make this week... Last night while the lads headed off for Jordan's birthday to watch "Despicable Me 2" (after devouring copious amounts of pizza), Kyla, Jayna and I had a civilised girls' evening :) P.S. Don't get Dad Palmer started on the little eensie bit of Ginger Crunch I may have trimmed off the top (and side...) of his share of Ginger Crunch that we were entrusted with delivering to his place. He has since informed Kyla that she might be safer to deliver it in person in the future...
ReplyDeleteIs Royal Baby fever quite so crazy over there as it appears at this distance? Some lunatic seems to have slept outside the hospital for days waiting for the young prince to be born. Jordan has been ranting and raving about how the unrest in Syria and the resulting 1.7 million refugees should be dominating world news right now, not the Royal Baby. He's right this time, but we told him we can send what we can to help with the needs in Syria, but we can also enjoy the fun of a new future King- within reason :) No cucumber sandwiches in his honour here. Kyla and I are betting he with be Prince George the something-a-rather. What are your guesses?
Sandra: Guess if he becomes King that would make him King George VII (Guess he doesn't get a number while he's just a prince... dunno).
